Hello, it’s been a while. Yesterday I’m happy to pass AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty. 2 months ago I was planning to take the AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty Beta (ANS-C01). Unfortunately, I feel not prepared, busy at work and busy with my 1-year-old. The new exam version will take effect in July 2022 but since I already started reviewing so I just took ANS-COO version. Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts and experience on the said exam certification.
My preparation for this exam was 3 months. I have a full-time job and nanny during my breaks so I just study for at least 1 to 2 hours a day. Fortunately these past few months we had lots of Australia holidays so I just took advantage of it. I also already have more than 5 years of experience using AWS with several clients and even in Hackathons. And this is not my first time taking an AWS certification exam (already have 6). Without further ado, these are the videos, books, and tools I used for studying.
- AWS Skillbuilder Networking Learning Plan course. It’s a long video content but it will help you a lot. Make sure to finish and claim your certificate.
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking Official Study Guide. Make sure to read this.
- Zeal Vora’s AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty 2022. Highly recommended!
- AWS Documentation under Networking & Content Delivery. It’s a must!
- Amazon CloudFront
- AWS Direct Connect
- Elastic Load Balancing
- AWS Global Accelerator
- Amazon Route 53
- Amazon VPC
- AWS VPN
- AWS CloudFormation
- Amazon WorkSpaces
- AWS Management Console. It’s a must! I spent almost 25USD just trying VPC, Transit Gateway, Route53 (bought domain fullstackph.com), Amazon WorkSpaces (Took me 10USD to test windows), EC2 with ELBs, Cloudfront lambda edge, etc.
- Very helpful vlog.
- Jon Bonso’s AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty Practice Exams 2022. Just optional if you feel not confident.
- Whizlab AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty. Not really recommended. I just bought this last year’s Black Friday deals.
My costing for these exams
- 150USD for the exam (300USD originally). I got a 50% off from my last exam on AWS Certified Alexa Skill Builder – Specialty. I took the exam via Pearson Vue OnVue Online at my home or office.
- 17USD Udemy by Zeal Vora. Make sure to use coupon from Zeal Vora’s Github account.
- 30USD AWS bill for my testing.
- 14USD tutorialsdojo.com By Jon Bonso.
- 11USD Whizlab. 50% off during Black Friday.
I’ve been thru several AWS certification exams but this one is the toughest. Not all companies that we apply for are using Direct connect or even VPN so really read the AWS docs and simulate it as much as possible. Hopefully, this blog can help you, and good luck.
Big thanks to my lovely wife Amah Galon CPA,MBA,(CMA), and to my kids Zeev and Amahri.
See you around 🙂
